Painting by David Lloyd

Patience, the world is getting gobbled up

Everything inflating from prices to egos to madness

Its in our nature to consume to become

Hunger a sworn enemy

They think they’ve cornered it now

Building empires with vague satiety but it doesn’t stop

An infinite foe growing as we grow

Its in our nature to consume to escape

The worlds a matrix within another we create

We have fallen victim to the hands that have never lost the grasping reflex of an infant

So we hold on hoping our grip doesn’t falter

Its in our nature to consume yet we starve

Stuffing ourselves yet the void grows

A void of wanting we can’t comprehend

So I urge you to starve but to starve properly

I urge you to eat the crumbs along the way because it will lead home

Time waits for no one and only those who starve know its true

Devour and the day is yours

Starve and starve properly will you then inherit the earth
